Gas Engineer Insurance FAQs:
-
Does a gas engineer need public liability insurance?
While technically you don’t need public liability insurance by law, it could be quite important that you have it. Main contractors and clients often refuse to let an engineer on site without proper proof of cover. Luckily, our Gas & HVAC Engineer Insurance package comes with Public Liability as standard. You can learn more about public liability insurance for trades and why it’s important by reading our business guide.
-
Do I need insurance to maintain my Gas Safe or REFCOM registration?
No, public liability insurance isn’t a membership requirement to obtain or renew your Gas Safe or REFCOM registration. However, Gas Safe does officially advise consumers to verify that engineers carry public liability insurance before hiring them, so it’s strongly recommended that this is in your policy (which it is when you choose Kingsbridge).
-
Are my tools covered?
Yes! We include up to £2,500 Goods and Tools cover as standard, with the option to increase your limits up to £20,000. This covers handheld trade tools and power tools like drills, saws and grinders. If you store your tools in your van overnight, these could still be protected, provided that your vehicle is locked and standard security requirements are met as per policy terms and conditions.
-
How quickly can I get Gas Engineer Insurance?
You can get covered in a matter of minutes. Simply fill in our quote form and one of our in-house experts will be in touch to confirm details and provide a quote. Once your policy is live, we’ll instantly send your documents directly to your inbox, so you can show proof of cover to clients and get straight to work.
